"Draw Back the Curtain... On a Clear Day"

By:    Priscilla Wainwright

I came across this wonderful song again this weekend, and I wanted to share the lyrics with you.

I haven’t heard this song in a long while, but I’ve always loved it.   It’s “On A Clear Day”, the title song to the Broadway play, “On A Clear Day You Can See Forever”.    Perhaps you recall the movie of the same name starring Barbara Streisand.

The play involved clairvoyance and past and future lives, hence, the references to ESP and such in the introduction.

Putting those specific references aside, just read the lyrics as a tribute poem to your Feminine Glory and Greatness.

Every now and then, in the hectic pace of our busy days, we need a reminder to stop and reflect on the actual power that we either take for granted or are out of touch with.   That spark of the Divine within us.

When I first heard this song again this weekend, after so many years, I teared up as I let the words sink in.   The message within the song is very powerful and moving.   At least it was for me.   I hope it is as meaningful for you as well.

ON A CLEAR DAY
(On a Clear Day You Can See Forever)

Could anyone among us
have an inkling or a clue,
what magic feats of wizardry
and voodoo you can do?

And who would ever guess
what powers you possess?
And who could have the sense
to change his views
and start to mind his E.S.P’s
and Q’s?

For who would ever dream
of hearing phones before they ring,
or ordering the earth
to send you up a little spring?

Or finding you’ve been crowned
the queen of lost and found?
And who would not be stunned
to see you prove
there’s more to us than surgeons
can remove?

So much more than we ever knew,
so much more were we born to do.
Should you draw back the curtain,
this I am certain,
you’ll be impressed with you.

On a clear day
rise and look around you,
and you’ll see
who you are.

On a clear day
how it will astound you
that the glow of your being
outshines every star.

You feel part of every mountain,
sea and shore;
you can hear from far and near
a world you’ve never heard before.

And on a clear day,
on that clear day,
you can see forever
and ever more.

You feel part of every mountain,
sea and shore;
you can hear from far and near
a world you’ve never heard before.

And on a clear day,
on that clear day,
you can see forever
and ever more.
